• Open your WhatsApp messenger and search for that particular group which you want to mute or stop receiving messages. In my case I want to mute this “XYZ WhatsApp Group” so, simply press and hold on that group name for a while and you will see some options appeared on up right corner of your screen.

  

• Now tap on this mute icon shown in upright corner between pin and archive icon.

  

• Here a popup will appear with three options which can help you in muting this group for 8hours, 1 week or always. In my case I want to mute this group for 8hours. So, I’ll choose 8 hours. One more this to remember is after muting it for 8 hours. You’ll not receive any sound notification if any chat received in this group. And you also have an option that is to show notifications in your notification bar in your phone if you tick the Show notification box shown below. But still you’ll not receive sound notification if any chat received from this group. Now simply tap on OK.

  

• After tapping on ok you are ready to go, now can see a muted icon beside your group chat.
