Open the settings application on your Samsung mobile device. It is usually present in the home screen of your device.
Find the Apps or Application manager option in the settings menu. It contains the list of all the applications on your device.
Tap on WhatsApp from the given list of applications. Once you tap on it you will get details of the memory usage and data storage distribution of the app. It also shows you an option to uninstall and force stop the app. We will do neither of it.
Select the storage option from the details section. In this section you can clear data and clear the cache. There is also an icon with change written in it.
- Click on the change icon. Once you do, you will see two options written as internal storage and external storage.
- Select External Storage. Once done, the options will go away.
- Restart your phone after that.
After you have followed all steps, your WhatsApp storage will change to SD card in your Samsung device.
The important criteria for this method is the rooting of your device. It means giving permission to download and install data from untrusted/external sources. But it is a proven method of changing your WhatsApp storage to SD card.
- Download a secure version of XInternalSD apk.
- Once done then install the apk.
- Go to the settings option inside the application.
- Enable the option of setting a custom path for the SD card.
- Tap on the path to the internal SD Card.
- Change the path to an external SD card.
Once the path is changed to the external SD card then tap on the "Enable for apps'' option. You will get a list of all the apps in your device whose storage is done on the SD card.
Enable the WhatsApp option in the list to ensure that its storage is set to SD card.
- Then, exit the application.
- At last, restart your device.
